How do you break the "I'm going to fail" spell when you're down?

When you are depressed and want to start something, you feel that you are bound to fail?

I've been in a particularly low mood lately, and every time I try to get my hands on something, I always feel like I'm sure I'll mess it up, and the feeling of powerlessness really takes your breath away.

I always feel that I can't do anything well, whether it's studying or working, I'm so anxious, especially when I think that I can't let my family live a good life, and I can't help but deny myself and think that all those dreams are just empty dreams.

Alas, I feel that I have achieved nothing, the future is bleak, just like a rusty screw, tired, but still have to hold on, the environment forces people to keep turning, has been overloaded for too long, physically and mentally exhausted.

Tried counseling twice, but it only relieved the surface of the problem, the root cause was still not addressed.

It's really tiring to have to act like nothing is wrong and maintain your image in front of others.

How do you break the "I'm going to fail" spell when you're down?

Smiling on the outside, repressed on the inside.

Hello my friend! I totally get these feelings you're having and it does hurt. The fact that you have persevered through such a difficult situation shows that you are super strong and resilient. I understand that you are going through a lot of stress and self-doubt, and those emotions are overwhelming.

Hearing you talk about feeling useless, overworked, and physically and mentally exhausted, I can imagine the deep helplessness and depression. It's like groping around in the darkness and not seeing any light. Faking a smile and playing the role of someone else's eyes can make you even lonelier, because your true self is not seen and understood.

However, we also have to recognize our own efforts. Although you feel that nothing has been accomplished, you have actually done a lot to cope with the difficulties. You mentioned that you have done counseling, which in itself is a sign of active help-seeking and deserves kudos! Every little attempt is a testament to your inner strength.

Sometimes we define success too narrowly, like having to reach some big goal. But really, success can look like many things. Being able to stick with it every day and find a little motivation to keep going is success. Allow yourself to be fulfilled in small accomplishments and don't just focus on what's out of reach.

Big goals can easily make people scared and powerless, so it's better to break them down into smaller steps. For example, if studying or working is stressful, break it down into small daily or hourly tasks. Completing these small tasks not only brings a sense of accomplishment, but also slowly builds confidence.

Learn to be gentle with yourself and look at setbacks and failures with compassion. Everyone has down times, so don't dismiss yourself out of hand just because of a momentary hardship. You are going through tough times and need more patience and love.

Although you have to play the role expected of you by others, don't forget the support that may be around you. Be brave enough to open up to people you trust and let them know how you really feel. Friends, family, or support groups can be your emotional backbone.

Try finding or taking up new hobbies, such as reading, exercising, painting, or whatever. These things can temporarily relieve anxiety and help you find joy and meaning in your life.

If previous counseling has only addressed the surface issues, it may be worth considering long-term therapy. Ongoing professional support can help you delve deeper into the root causes and find a more holistic approach to coping.

Remember that you are not alone. Everyone has their own battles to fight in this complex world. Your feelings are real and important, allow yourself to embrace those emotions while believing that there are endless possibilities ahead. You can always seek help again if you wish, whether it's professional counseling or talking to a friend. You have demonstrated great courage and perseverance, and I believe these qualities will carry you out of this situation and into a better tomorrow~
